Ding Dong

by chrisglos @ Monday, 06. Mar, 2006 - 13:55:55

Yesterday, I had the sincere pleasure of seeing one of the all-time great British Actors...

...none other than Leslie Phillips.

Unfortunately, I never got the chance to speak, though.

It was really bizarre, I was sitting at Reading stations, after a weekend back to Gloucester, and quite frankly I was tired and cold. And really looking forward to getting back to my gay/girlie boudoir!!! (old joke for those that know)

Then, there he was, walking down the platform. He could have been any weary pensioner to the untrained eye - and probably was to most.

Its funny how because the person is famous, and has been around for decades, you would automatically assume not to see them having to commute like that. Just him, a tatty coat, and a really shabby holdall. No disrespect to the great man, but I was surprised to see how poor he was looking! He really did look very gaunt and, um, well, like he was on the breadline. Hmm, maybe it was a disguise to fool the papparazi.

Anyway, cheered me up no end, and had me recalling many moment from classic british films, and that most wonderful of voices of his...

...Ding-dong...the next train to arrive on platform 4...

Well, it kept me entertained for a while.
