Yet another glorious weekend is fast becoming a memory as the week grinds in to gear. Boo hoo.
So, a bit later than normal, heres my 'some things I learned and did this weekend' post...
Stuff
God bless alcohol and chips. Marvellous combination isnt it. Chips for tea, bottle of wine, looking pretty fine lol, followed by more drinks than were planned. Curses, best laid plans and all.
Hangover Saturday, followed by the 'cure' (no, I dont mean Robert Smith et al performed an impromptu concert in my room, although I did look like him, lol).
Southampton, shopping, bargain dvd, drinks with some friends, and the mythical cheese and jalapeno pepper sandwich stack with spring rolls. In years to come, thats going to be coveted as much as the, erm, ark of the covenant.
Dog Soldiers. Funny film, forgotten how much I enjoyed it. Mr Pertwee - under-rated? Or just a lucky role he picked. Mind you, hes good in Equilibrium too.
Sunday, shopping and sea front and snacks. Yummy. Love the sea, and water, dont know what it is, but something about it just brings out this weird calmness and tingle in me. 'Tis nice to wander by the water though. Except for the horrendous wind. And there was a certain young lady running around frightening the seagulls and causing pensioners to wind up their car windows.
Primark - or is it pronounced primark?
lol never can tell - I dont care how cheap I sound!! How many bargains can you pick up there!
Finally did my housework and cleaning. Well, most of it. Still got some vacuuming to do and footwear to clean. I forgot I actually had desk space and shelves. Sorry dust mites, time to squat elsewhere.
Random
- Its Anthony Perkins and Robert Downey Jrs birthday today. Chin chin.
- How did the turkey get its name? Well, it all started long ago, and went something a little like this:
"There are a number of explanations for the origin of the name of Thanksgiving's favorite dinner guest. Some believe Christopher Columbus thought that the land he discovered was connected to India, and believed the bird he discovered (the turkey) was a type of peacock. He therefore called it 'tuka,' which is 'peacock' in Tamil, an Indian language.
Though the turkey is actually a type of pheasant, one can't blame the explorer for trying.
The Native American name for turkey is 'firkee'; some say this is how turkeys got their name. Simple facts, however, sometimes produce the best answers—when a turkey is scared, it makes a "turk, turk, turk" noise
- Martin Luther King was assassinated on this day in 1968
- There is only one tube station name which does not have any letters of the word "mackerel" in it - St John's Wood
