Whats with all of the empty page space??!!!

by chrisglos @ Tuesday, 31. Oct, 2006 - 13:10:03

Every time I post a blog, it seems to do something to the layout of my page.

The previous post is miles down the bottom of the page, with reems of white space in between.

You practically need some sandwiches, a thermos, sturdy hiking boots, a tent and a compass in order to spend the time locating it.

Pimp my ride

by chrisglos @ Tuesday, 31. Oct, 2006 - 10:07:25

Ive always, always wanted a super cool VW Camper van, with really sleek car accessories, interior and wheels. One day, one day...

And it would be super pimped. So pimped it would need a purple velvet hat on the top with a big feather sticking out of it. Actually, nothing naff, just really smooth!

Painted in a metallic purple probably. Or pink. With some nice wheel trims like these.

The interior would be plain and well upholstered, but I think Id need it quite bright. Retro is the word!

Oh, and some good dashboard interiors.

Ah, and the added bonus would be my girlie and a dog, just getting away from it all. Maybe a few friends in tow too.

Turning heads as we go, of course.

Bo! on the bus

by chrisglos @ Monday, 30. Oct, 2006 - 22:58:14

...now that Bo in the US has started, it reminded me of a picture I took recently.

We were on the bus, having a nice jaunt somewhere, as you do, when I spotted her across the other side. Oh how we laughed. Because it was funny!! Well, maybe you had to be there.

So, as sneakily as I could, I thought I would take a picture of Mel B on the number 5 bus. Looking gooooorgeous.

My bathroom tap has been leaking for, oh, I dont know, about 4 months or more. True, I could have done something about it, but tv food and beer is so much more interesting.

Still, having put up with it for too long, I think its time to fix it. So I started looking for some funky new taps to replace the boring old ones.

Wow. There are some funky well priced little fellas out there. Check out these Neptune taps. Almost alien like I reckon.

Now, if I were going to do my bathroom out, I love the look of this minimalistic bath

Very nice and very well priced. Right, wheres my credit card...

by chrisglos @ Sunday, 22. Oct, 2006 - 11:58:16

I dont think its really possible. And from what I said earlier, it doesnt seem right, lol.

Unless someone is voodooing me. Which is a distinct possibility.

But I swear my heads shrinking.

Hmmm

by chrisglos @ Sunday, 22. Oct, 2006 - 10:39:37

People are strange.

Interesting.

The incredible shrinking man...

zippedy doo dah...ive now lost another 5 lbs!!!!. :) fantastic.

As Ive said before, this new insulin, has worked wonders. I reckon Ive got a few more pounds to lose then it will be down to continuing with the exercise/swimming!!
Its so steady now with this, leveling everything off. Being wrongly medicated before was a pain, got to me, but this is so right. Its knocked off my weight, and theres no more worries from it, moods because of the balance of insulin not working and stopping me do stuff, distracted in case bloods got low etc.

The weight loss has been a bonus too, getting me back to the person I was before. Confident about how I look and being able to hold my own around people, not worrying just wanting to enjoy it, and them, and them enjoy it. I always used to be like that, and having regained the proper composure from eating / insulin, having it work again, well im comfortable, confident and look good, lol :) Seriously, having them get that right has brought me back. What with that, and other things sorted, my normal happy go lucky confidence is pretty much back. Theres still one huge thing I miss which would make it all good and be the perfect accompaniment to share with, give it all back to, and have this confident, weight steady, newly restored, remorseful, shamed, hungry to make up for lost time, return to happy, relaxed, me be enjoying it.

Ive lost nearly a stone and a half, and the insulin/weight has just worked wonders to get me back. Hoohah!

The mirror now looks good - I dont even recognise me half the time, lol, I feel good about myself, my worry from getting low blood has stopped getting me down, and Im confident in my looks and abilities, and being normal, lol. As Mark Morrison might say, the return of the mac.
OK, I still sometimes forget my nightime insulin, Doh.

But I cant lie. No matter how good everything above, all those great things regained... theres still a huge gap id love to put right as well. :(

Yay for the weight loss and other stuff though :)
If only I could sort my hair out too!! The last 3 cuts have been bad. At least Ive lost the mop. Hmm, maybe that accounted for the last 5lb? lol :)

18 stone in a day...

by chrisglos @ Wednesday, 18. Oct, 2006 - 10:16:25

Sorry Pete, nicking your line there.
Kay that is, not Pete '18 stone of coke in a day' Doherty.

Well, not quite. But I've lost a stone in a month.

And it's all due to changing my insulin. Still got a bit more to lose I feel, but the change in insulin and removing the need for me to eat every 2 seconds, has dropped it in no time.

It also feels so much more better, I actually get hungry now, and feel so much better for the change. If only they'd diagnosed correctly when they should and saved so much hassle!!
Still, it's made the world of difference, and now it's settled in, I feel so much back to normal and good about it all. I no longer have to worry about food and being low and stuff.
Free now to do anything and be so flexible - just makes me that much more, well, happy. And not having to worry about it, its as if its not there anymore.
Happy and can go anywhere now, and be relaxed and its not on my mind. Lol.

So, I'm weighing myself again soon and I reckon I've lost another few pounds.

Thought I'd share that as Im quite chuffed about the weight loss and the change in insulin being so much better. Its made the world of difference :).

(Hopefully the grammar in that post was better than last nights atrocious effort!! lol. drink, eh).

....in a glass cage of emotion

by chrisglos @ Tuesday, 17. Oct, 2006 - 23:22:47

Actually, that has nothing to do with this post.

My phone now works again. yay. :)
My phone seesm to be bugerred again. boo.

Rang countless people today checkign to see if they could hear me. For a while, seemed ok, and that phone was audible again. Rather than the previous sounds of me all echoey. Actually, maybe the title inst that bad. lol.

But, alas, despite the earlier calls seeming ok, it appears to have fucked up again. Arse. Lets see what its like this morning,.

as my mate used to say, ive been out and had a few. :)

So perhaps i shouldnt be blogging. Who cares.

At least got my writing done beforehand, otherwise it might have been crap. Yeah right, likes its, erm, Oscar Wild anyway. Nah.like it.

Ah well. Communes, vegetarianism, canal barges, overtime, love, beer, films, Glossop, going out, Italians, dope, earings, and more dont often come up in one go. :) hee.

ill go now. coffee.

Fucking phone.

My favourite spot

by chrisglos @ Thursday, 12. Oct, 2006 - 23:15:59

No, i dont mean of the blackhead variety.

Went for a long walk earlier, and as usual ended up at my favourite thinking spot by the river - pretty much every time. Think its the water and ducks. Just wish those swans would fuck off sometimes. :)

No Darth Vader this time though. Which was probably just as well. Might have scared me in the dark.

2nd post today..maybe the writing course is working

by chrisglos @ Wednesday, 11. Oct, 2006 - 13:42:58

I met Darth Vader yesterday morning. Hard to believe, I know.

There I was sitting down having a read and taking some time out to think about things, before work, and I was aware of a dark figure approaching me.

Most of the time its some early morning homeless person asking for a fag and some change, so thats what I expected.

However, as he approached I became aware that he was masked. Uh-oh. "oh cripes, an 8 am mugging. And I thought work was going to be the worst thing of the day." I said to myself.

Then came the unmistakable gas-mask tones.

"Hello stranger, its a wonderful day is it not. Im not from round here as you can tell. Its nice, you look nice. How are you this morning?"

"Erm, not too bad thanks. Contemplating some things at the moment, making the most of the outdoors before getting into work."

"Ah good man, you looked as though you were engaged in thought. I like that."

Then he removed his mask and gloves and goddamnit if it wasnt really Vader. Id had a guess it wasnt, due to the words he spoke. Quite intellectual and well spoken and fluent.

Yet when he spoke without the mask he was very odd. Wild eyed and manic, yet so calm and stable sounding. He proceeded to explain he thought the mask was a good ice breaker - I should have seen the attention he got. I of course was thinking totally different thoughts, that of old and young ladies being slightly worried by a menacing masked stranger.

Still, he seemed adamant. So, there we sat, having a chat for ten minutes, musing on life, the beauty of Winchester, love, the problem with work getting in the way of things, and, oooh, all sorts.

A most surreal start to the morning, and certainly the last thing I expected.

Black day

by chrisglos @ Wednesday, 11. Oct, 2006 - 12:25:35

Today is a black day.

Just when the clouds that had infected and fogged me, had reduced to a fine wisp and the sky was clear for good. Finally stopping what they did to me, so my skies were clear, illness gone, and removing the bodysnatcher, to bring me back to full health. The last remnants stubbornly had been hiding, but theyve withered and Ive destroyed them. For good - in both meanings.

Other clouds fill the sky.

Mine are gone. forever. They will never darken my door again, I cant and wont ever let them mask me. Why should I, when I know they werent real, and Im good as me, so wont ever not be me again.

Today is a black day though, despite me feeling so happy and optimistic about that.

Whilst you're surfing this lunchtime, do something worthwhile...

by chrisglos @ Tuesday, 03. Oct, 2006 - 12:31:58

...ooo that sounded trite and happy-clappy didnt it?

Nevertheless, off the back of my 'waste of space tv complainers' comment yesterday, I'd like to show that there are better places to direct a protest.

Control Arms campaign
The arms trade is one of the most dispacably shady areas of business in the world. I doubt theres very few people who wouldnt want to improve the situation.
Add your name and/or face to the petition - asking governments to toughen up controls on the arms trade, calling for an International Arms Trade Treaty.

If you select this link, you can also send a message to Margaret Beckett urging her to ensure that references to human rights are included in the treaty.

Irrepressible Info

This should appeal to all of us bloggers; I for one dont want to have my right to an opinion lost:
"Irrepressible
Adj. 1) Impossible to repress or control.
Chat rooms monitored. Blogs deleted. Websites blocked. Search engines restricted. People imprisoned for simply posting and sharing information.

The Internet is a new frontier in the struggle for human rights. Governments – with the help of some of the biggest IT companies in the world – are cracking down on freedom of expression.

Amnesty International, with the support of The Observer UK newspaper, is launching a campaign to show that online or offline the human voice and human rights are impossible to repress."

Click here to sign the petition.

--------------

If we do nothing, nothing will be done.
If we do something, at the very least it adds further pressure.

--------------

And then why not go for the really important surveys: Googlefight

Count Duckula was too much for Snaggletooth.
However, Terry Wogan also beat Louis Walsh.

Boats. Fishing. Water. Its all a bit Mark Twain

by chrisglos @ Tuesday, 03. Oct, 2006 - 09:13:01

I had to visit this site, just for the name. Says a lot about my British schoolboy humour, doesnt it.

Ive always been a latent fisherman. Not so much now, especially being vegetarian (although thats for different reasons). I remember taking it up as a kid, and there was always something about the setting up of the rod and line, casts, flys, lures. The casting of the line into the water, and sitting there wrapped up feeling like a proper man of nature.

The flys and lures always intrigued me too. The bright colours, feathers, paintings. Something attractive about their not quite realness.

You could do worse than spend a day on the river or sea, in a boat, gently undulating on the waves, casting your rod into the water. Not only is it a great way to catch your tea, but nothing helps you master the art of just sitting and thinking and taking in nature all day, quite so much as being there.

Its not an expensive way of getting a days pleasure, just buy a few rods and lures, some patience, and you get a day in the outdoors. Its almost tai-chi like, learning how to cast off. Sort of.

Mmmm. I think Ive got another thing to add to my list of 'things to do when Im living somewhere natural and wonderful in a rustic house with recycling and good views and a river or water and my own produce with plenty of fresh air and nature to spend my time writing and creating and enjoying life rather than the office'. Phew, long list.

I did have the vids on, but they seemed to stretch the post over the whole page, so thought Id get rid of them. They were rubbish anyway.
In fact, whilst Im at it, Ill issue an apology for wasting your time.

Wossy in twouble with viewers in upwoar

by chrisglos @ Monday, 02. Oct, 2006 - 12:31:57

The term 'comedy' is lost on some people.

(Daily Mail readers spring to mind - unless we're talking about twee romanticisms of a past British age. Although I doubt they are to blame here)

Which can be the only explanation for the BBC receiving 61 complaints about Jonathon Woss' (sic) joke on Friday night "that people on council estates should be banned from giving birth"

I dont know about you, but if Im watching a comedy chat show, I expect that I'll hear comedic comments. Tongue in cheek barbs. Topical digs at touchy subjects. Especially if you are watching Jonathan Ross, or similar.

Its not Newsnight. We arent talking about the leader of the opposition making a brash, serious, political statement.

Its humour. Not to be taken seriously. A bit of fun. If its near the knuckle, so what - thats half (if not all) of the point of humour.

What grated me most wasnt so much the fact that people felt that such an innocuous comment warranted complaining about - which incidentally was sandwiched between many other comments that could equally 'cause offence' should you be that way inclined, so why not mention those if youre going to be consistent.

No, it was the fact that people will take the time to phone up and complain about something so trivial and banal, yet there never appears to be the same 'commitment' to raising a fuss about real issues.

If you have time and energy available to you to vent anger or comment at actions which are irresponsible, then choose something that really is irresponsible.

Next time these people feel like taking 5 minutes out, Id hope they spend the time instead reading the Amnesty International website. Or Friends of the Earth.

Something productive that would warrant recording of your disagreement.
