Apparently, Ive volunteered...

I'm an educated sort of chap, not exceedingly, but I generally know my way around the dictionary.
Last time I looked, 'volunteering' meant you put yourself forward and say something along the lines of 'oh yes, I'll help out with that' etc.
Apparently not.
Apparently it means that someone else will say that you will do something!
My friend seems to have taken it upon herself to volunteer me for helping out next week. I dont mind, I did say that I'd do it at some point. I would just have preferred to have offered directly! I know shes only eager to get some more support, bless, so I'll let her off this time. I'm owed a pint though!
Should be interesting.
