Supermarkets - see, its quite E-asy to achieve

by chrisglos @ Wednesday, 16. May, 2007 - 22:51:04

Asda and M&S to phase out food additives by end of year

See an article HERE

Other food manufacturers take note. This is a fantastic move, no matter how or why its been instigated. I'd like to think its down to continuing consumer pressure about the practices that big conglomerates indulge in and questioning them.

Surely, knowing what I do about the culture of competition in the marketplace, the others will follow suit and very quickly jump on the coattails of these two.

In a week where Mars seems to have taken a backwards move - no doubt in the name of profits, pure and simple, because its probably cheaper - and amended the sourcing of their ingredients so that their products are no longer vegetarian friendly (See HERE), this is welcome news.

On health grounds, on more natural ingredients grounds, and mostly on the grounds that it proves people power does eventually win out.

Apprentice: Katie yet again gets out of a jam

by chrisglos @ Wednesday, 16. May, 2007 - 22:13:34

Just so theres no confusion this week, this post is about the Apprentice :)

Oh Katie, Katie, Katie. Please, I beg you, for the sake of your health I think you should quit the program now and get yourself to a doctor posthaste. Those cheeks are getting redder and redder by the second - if you turned a baboon upside down and gave it a blonde wig, you wouldnt tell the pair of you apart.

She proved conclusively tonight what has been excuciatingly obvious for weeks now that shes all bluster. No wonder those cheeks are so red, blowing all that hot air guff around week after week and not actually doing anything viable or productive.

What was that pitch all about? What was that big idea all about? She might just as well have stood there going 'blah blah bollocks blah blah im posh you know blah blah i have such an inferiority complex that all i do is make snide putdowns to everyone else blah blah bollox'

Admittedly, Gazelle (sic) was crap too. I did quite like the Jam logo though. And the pun on sole had a lot of mileage in it. They just didnt use it right. Why not just call them Sole instead? That wouldve been an obvious offshoot from the brainstorming - Have you got Sole? for example.

The Street stuff was cool - not sure about the logo, it was a bit contrived old skool, but I did like the last bits of the rap, spot on. And the reclaim the streets sign off.

But, as usual, back to Katie - which would be the best way to be stood next to her.

Leading global brand advisor or whatever it is youre meant to be?

Theres only one brand you should be let near, and its perfect for you as its normally used on cows anyway.

No no no......dont do this to me!!!!

by chrisglos @ Wednesday, 16. May, 2007 - 20:44:50

As you may be aware, Ive been watching Spooks in gluttonous proportions this last week - tv on demand and all that.

All of Series 3, and now Ive just finished watching the last episode of Series 4.

(Warning: Spoilers if youve not watched it! Even though its not exactly new)

Ive seen nearly all of them before, except for the last two or so of Series 4. Ive seen some of Series 5 too - but I was working away when it was on originally, then doing other things on Mondays.

So, even though I know Adam and Harry are still there in Series 5....but....

....what a b*st*rd way to end Series 4!!! Adams just been shot, blood coming out of his mouth, and Harry is right in the sights of the sniper(ess). Then it stops!!! No more to watch!!! And Series 5 isnt on tv on demand!!! And I cant afford to buy it yet!!!!

Valium - now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

One Change Wednesday....whats it going to be this week?!

by chrisglos @ Wednesday, 16. May, 2007 - 13:43:53

One change Wednesdays
A companion piece to Good Deeds Friday

Readers (yes, both of you) should be familiar by now to the concept of Good Deeds Friday, and its aim to get you to think about doing a little bit of good for others or campaigns etc.

Well, not content to just sit back and only bombard you lovely helpful people once a week, Ive come up with this new concept.

The idea is that each Wednesday - makes sense to do it then as Ive called it One change Wednesday - I will post a suggestion of something you (and I) can integrate as a change into our daily lives. Something small, something barely noticeable and that will not cause any real change to our routines, BUT will take one little step towards helping with environmentatl concerns, waste, climate, and so on...as well as potentially saving you a bit of money.

They will be small, and some may be blatantly obvious...like todays...but why not give it a go? Theres nothing to lose, and potentially alot to gain.

This weeks suggestion:
Turn off the oven a few minutes before the end of cooking time - the food will still keep cooking, the oven will still stay hot, BUT you will cut down on a few minutes of unecessary energy usage. Save money, save fuels.
Peace, we outta here.
